Films Not To Watch When You're Single, No. 2; Truly Madly Deeply

This film is absolutely gorgeous. Juliet Stevenson plays the widow of Alan Rickman. She is a woman that can no longer cope with life now that her love has died. Using the miracle of film, Rickman is allowed to return from the dead, to show her that their relationship was not built on such a high pedestal, and that she shouldn't ruin her life over it. Coaxing her into a new relationship, he breaks his own heart, before returning to the afterlife.

There are scenes in this film which are so deeply moving that, perhaps, it will drain you. Although it does explain how love is a cunt, it also shows the true meaning of sacrifice and devotion (on both the protagonists' parts), and the acting is nothing short of perfection. I am thankful I saw it with my girlfriend next to me, so we could hug when it finished.

I can't quite explain how moving this film is, but my girlfriend first saw it in a lecture on music in film (the music is superb, too), and she said that every girl in the class was in tears by the end, as well as half the blokes. Hell, even I cried at the end, and I'm a hard bastard.

This one's a real motherfucker.

8/10

P.S. The girlfriend mentioned fucked me over and destroyed my life at a later date - go figure...
