Number 5 - "J"

Following (in a detached, almost completely unrelated way) on from Juliet is Bleeding’s post on a favoured film; "High Fidelity" is up there on my list (the book is, in fact, my favourite book). Nick Hornby’s character Rob Fleming (Gordon, if you only know the film) thinks almost exactly like me, in fact I’m pretty sure any man reading it will do so with a knowing smile on his face. The basis for much of the story is Rob’s "all time, top five, most memorable break-ups" So guess what I’m going to do…

My all time top five most memorable break-ups, in reverse mind-clinging order are –

5. “J”

It was a casual thing (for me), she didn't mean that much to me. She was a friend beforehand, we had one long conversation that wasn't entirely unpleasant which led to an extremely ill-advised fling that finally ended due to a Dido song (Dido, by the way, is very close to the dizzy heights of the top of my wish list... she could possess a growler more grizzly than Gentle Ben and I’d still be happier down there than Rick Waller at the Pukka factory).

"You probably don’t want to hear tomorrow’s another day, but I promise you you’ll see the sun again..."

Hearing that line made me realise "yeah, I've felt like that... but I'll never feel like that about J", so I ended it. Much to her dismay, which can be read about in an earlier post.

Only memorable due to being the most recent, and she won’t let me fucking forget it...

You have good taste in media. Unfortunately No. 5 was quite boring, I'm patiently waiting for the run-up to No. 1.
