Love Is A Cunt

Love is a cunt because it invokes pure terror.

There's a fear that impregnates itself in you once you pass the stage of initial meeting, dating, getting-to-know each other... once you've said The Three Dreaded words, and have started making plans together. When you realise that your life now actually includes another person, rather than being yours to live alone.

Yes, the loneliness elapses. But a new fear arrives: what on earth would you do without them? And that makes you needy, and a true victim of Love Is A Cunt.

And what have you lost? Your independence. Your free spirit. Your ability to recover. The knowledge that you're in deep is worthy of both rejoice and remorse.

You wonder how on earth you'll ever get over this one, even though you've survived heartbreak before...

And this is when you have to stop, take a deep breath, and make a decision not to attach yourself further. To stop dreaming of Happily Ever After and take each day as it comes.

You see, Love Is A Cunt even when it's not. Even when you're head over heels in the happiest moments of your life, the Cunt presence remains.

As if we ever needed to doubt it.

You have to weigh up the sacrifices and decide whether or not you're deeply enough in love to accept them.

The problem is, that when we're on the love side, we always think it's worth it; then when we're on the break-up side, we think it wasn't.

SO WE'RE FUCKED.
